My Thoughts

Heads up readers, you're going to hate Shane in this book!  I got this warning from Rachel Caine herself and I didn't believe it, but trust me, it's true!  (She did say he redeems himself in Last Breath however...)

The last two or so Morganville Vampire books haven't been my favorite, but I feel like this one is getting us back to the basic concept the series started with, which was, fighting vampires!  Well, at least, the MC's not letting the vampires get them and staying alive.  That being said, of course, Shane is horrible in this book! I wanted the vampires to get him after he started acting a fool! Some of the scenes between him and Claire are heartbreaking and I teared up (noooo, not me ;)  Claire is beginning to drive me crazy with the secret keeping and not telling the others the details until they're already in trouble.  Eve is awesome, as always, Michael is, as can be expected, the perfect gentleman, minus the whole, *motions with fingers mimicking fangs to neck* bloodsucking thing, and....dun dun dun!  Michael and Eve are getting married! (Say what!?!?!?)  And I don't know that they've thought that decision all the way through (yet).

Claire finally, after all this time, gets accepted to MIT.  Now she has a HUGE choice to make.  And a lot of details to take care of if she decides to go, which of course, is going to be stressful and exciting, probably.  I want Claire to go to school, although I don't know how it will work, getting out of Morganville, leaving behind her friends, getting away from having to be at Myrnin's beckon call.  There's so much to take care of! Will she ever be allowed to go?

There were some moments in this installment where the characters are reeeeeally dense and it kind of makes you want to smack them (and I'm not even talking about Shane.  Completely.) It just takes them too long to pick up on important details.  This is also where Claire's horribly annoying habit of keeping secrets longer than she should comes in.  We don't see a TON of Myrnin in this book, but he's there. Also, I stil keep picturing him as an old man, even though he isn't, and I can't believe people ship him and Claire! Gross!

No matter what though, this series is still entertaining and I always look forward to the next one.

I'm rating Bite Club 3 STARS because I know that as we get closer to the series' conclusion, I'm going to need room to go up!

Thank you for dropping in!
